Fowey Christmas Market 2009
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th December
The Fowey Christmas Market has rapidly become acknowledged as the premier event of its kind in the area. People frequently comment on how incrediby attractive a place Fowey is to spend a holiday, so any excuse to return is eagerly accepted. The Christmas Market provides the ideal opportunity to return to the place that so many people love, and what better place can you imagine in which to do all your Christmas shopping? Bookings are coming in from traders throughout the South West. If you would like an opportunity to be considered for this prestigious maket, please get in touch as soon as possible.
We are determined to ensure that we offer the very best of choice and quality. Accommodation is certain to become scarce, so visitors are advised to arrange for your hotel, guest house or self-catering accommodation as soon as possible. Even places such as Polperro get filled up for the Fowey Christmas Market, so don't leave things too late.
Due to the growth of the market, and because the weather can always have an effect on the siting of the marquees, we have needed to find an additional site. We were fortunate to get permission to use Berril's Yard Car Park, owned and managed by Fowey Harbour Commissioners, and planned accordingly.

Unfortunately, due to emergency repair works needed to Berrils Yard, we have now had our permission rescinded. We have been really fortunate to acquire a more than acceptable alternative venue, at Fowey Leisure Centre. The main sports hall offers us the opportunity to house all the traders in one venue. Whilst of course, we will miss the ambience that only Fowey Town Quay can offer, at least we can guarantee that, whatever the weather does, we will still definitely run the event. Some of you will remember the nightmare of 2007 when we had to cancel the event due to storm-force winds on the Quay! The new venue allows us to have entertainment under cover, as well as some really interesting outside caterers, which the venue in town would not have permitted. The Town Hall is fully booked with craft traders, and there will be a free bus service(sponsored by the Fowey Chamber of Commerce) running between the car park, the Christmas Market in the Leisure Centre and the town, its shops and restaurants, so we think the whole town will be buzzing with excitement as people move between the various sites, and soak up the atmosphere that only Fowey can offer. We are very excited about the market, as it promises to be as exciting as it always has been, with lots more entertainers wanting to be there. It should be great fun
